Are all driveshafts the same?

   Just wondering as my mates got a new driveshaft for sale but hes unsure what model its for.. so how do i know if it fits mine or are they all the same?

   There are tapered or flat mate.

   tapered or flat,ABS or non ABS, VT 2 pice type or standard single piece, no,theres quite a few different ones

   This info is all you need to know really. to expand mk1's are ussually flat faced and mk2's are usually tapered at the ends. although you should check as they may have been changed in their lifes aswell as the legs.
   The drivers side can be one single shaft on ususally lower spec models anything vtr and should always be a 2 piece shaft so it pivots in the middle rather than at the gearbox end which you should be easily able to see.
   Passenger ones are usually all the same id like to reccoemnd the ones on templerally website as they are pribably cheaper than alot of oe replacements and a more Refined design.

   okay thanks guys.. so will a mk2 1.1 be a single piece... but will it be flat or tapered?

   should be tapered i believe. you can also tell by the length of the hub nut. tapered shafts have a longer hub nut

   as bertie says, 99% of mk2s are tapered end, yes have a look at the hub nut, the tapered ones do have a longer/deeper nut

   cheers guys, think ill just wait till my mums cars is free, take it apart then go down a scrappy or motorfactors and but the exact same one
