HOW TO:_ de-pin a mk1 vtr..!

  1. #1
Just thought i'd put a guide up how to de-pin a vtr MK1 as I can only find the mk2 guide - spose some1 might find it helpful....

STEP 1 - TAKE DOOR CARDS OFF using a T20 Torx bit

undo this one on the door card 1st

    now this one

now give the door card a pull from the bottom edge first and pull the whole card off being careful not to snap the clips

STEP 2 ACCESS INNER DOOR & UNCLIP ROD & PULL HANDLE

slide the door pull handle toward the front of the car & push the road out by twisting the handle

Undo these 3 by using a T30 torx bit - might need an allen key type as they may be really tight

Now once the door catch mechanism is loose pull it towards you and youll see the rods move, have a fiddle with the top rod that comes out of the doorcard so u know where and how it will move....now the rod we want to take out is clipped onto the door catch mechanism so what you want to do is grab the very end of the rod and pull it towards you and it will unclip - have patience its a little fiddly! if you look into the door itll look like this:-

Once the rod is unclipped just slide it out and your done! Just put the doorcard back on, be careful not to snap the clips again, repeat the same on the other door!

The gromet to fill the hole is 13mm i think - can get them from ebay or halfords and if you break doorcard clips you can get them from ebay - just type in saxo door card clips. Any questions please ask!

nice one mate just thought id see if anyone finds it helpful, its easy as piss to do literally just unclip the rod once you've found the end - its connected to the bottom side of the door catch mechanism box thingy lol, i see you live on the isle of man...been there 9 times i love the place, TT time soon!!!

can someone explain to me why you want to do this and how do you reconnect it back up
  6. #6
people do this for cosmetic looks and for security, and its literally a reversal of the guide to reconnect them, easy!

why did you remove the handle? if you just fiddle about with the pin it should just unclip off
  8. #8
all i did was remove the doorcard and fiddle it off with my hand round the back, was a fiddle though

Good guide, just not sure how it makes a car look any better without the door pins.

its a theif deterrant. a really common way for theives to brake in is to either bend the door back at the top and pull the pin up, or jam a screw driver beside the lock on the door.

without a doorpin it makes it 'less easy'

also a grommit from halfords fills up the hole nicely so it looks better than standard
