Important! : MOT Failure - Exhaust Emissions??

  1. #1
    Got these failures:

    1) Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content at idle excessive.

    2) Exhaust emissions Lamda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits.

    What does this mean?

And what seams to be the problem?

    Bumppp.

Sounds like possibly the lambda sensor or the cat.

    I agree

the 2nd fast idle is simple enough to sort by takin the lambda out and cleaning it up, failing that it will be a new lambda. as for the excessive carbon monoxide that sounds like your cats gone

the Lambda reading relates to the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gasses i think..(sounds like the same problem i had a few year ago) if your exhaust is leaking it can suck in fresh air as the gasses pass through and this increases the 02 levels. my issue was i had a dual exit exhaust so had to make a planking plate to direct gasses out of one side as air "could" be drawn through as well as a few leaks down the system too.
