Powersteering help

   Got a problem with my steering, sometimes the steering gets really stiff and the rest of the time it don't seem to be working unless in reverse. There is also a knocking noise when turning corners, don't know if that got anything to do with it.

   have you checked steering fluid ,does the pump whine .track rod ends could be shot as well they knock when there knackered

   does the pump whine as you steer?
   there probably unrelated problems tbh.
   next time the pump stops working, give the metal part of it a tap with a hammer from underneath the car, that should get some life into it

   When driving there's no noise at all, tbh don't even think the power steering is working while driving. But when steering in reverse gear or stationary there is a sort of whining sound.

   the power steering pump usually makes a noise when stationary steering

   could be your pump , steering rack, also check the fuse has not gone as the power steering is electrical
