    My handbrake cable is fine.

But Put the car in for an MOT and the efficiency is only 12%.

What can I do to get it to at least the pass rate?
  2. #2
    Change rear pads?

are the drum cylinders working fine?

Best way to find out whats duff is to strip the drum apart & check for seized parts, Leaking wheel cylinders and the material left on the Shoe & the drum lining its self.

    The cable doesn't need adjusting..

The handbrakes only got 4 clicks to it.

    Probably the pads need changing..

Sorry its a vtr with discs on the back..

    Ahh, thats alot easier then.

Check the pads & Discs, then if they're not at fault.. maybe a seized piston.

Ahh a new caliper is too expensive for me as i'm tight

Al change the pads and hope it passes lmao

As someones already mentioned, check the condition of the discs, pads and make sure the lever on the callipers are operating.

yeh iv'e been told to grease some lever up?
  11. #11
To be honest, if the lever is already stuck then you'll struggle forever with it. Probably just best to get another calliper.

Dw, al get it un-done. I'v'e also jsut bought some pads and discs for the rear so that will help get it alteast over the 25% efficiency needed wont it?
