Dashboard Dials/Mileage Query

  1. #1
    Hi

Quick question for all you experts out there!

I have noticed on my newly bought saxo vtr mk2 that the right-hand side button on the dashboard were the clocks/dials are (the button that it says in the manual you push in to change the clock) is missing and I just have a hole there even though the left push in button isn't missing.

Apart from not being able to change the clock I am just a little worried that its been removed by a previous owner for a reason? I mean this may sound stupid but can they somehow change the mileage by sticking something in that hole?

Also looking at pictures on the internet of other clock gauges I noticed they all seem to have the plastic covering on, mine doesn't???

    any help/advice?

Do you mean manual dials? Rather than displaying in digital? If so then yes its possible to wind the clocks back BUT.. If the engine sounds and runs fine and if its got any service history or receipts and drives fine then it shouldn't be a problem

Soz should of made myself a bit clearer, the clock and mileage are digital display and in the manual it says to change the clock you need to press the right-hand button and the left-hand side button but I am missing the right-hand side button.
I am just wondering if a previous owner has removed this for any reason? I know its had an after market steering wheel put on it, so whether they had to remove the dials gauge to fit this and the button has got lost then?

Ahh ok, its quite possible you never know what things people have attempted and in what way they have done it i shouldnt imagine its a massive problem just get 1 from a scrapyard lol

I thought about replacing the whole thing from a scrapyard but then I would have to pay someone to set my correct mileage on it.
And I don't think I can just replace the missing button?

daft question but can you get replace buttons? Also as mentioned in my first post on this thread the plastic screen from the front of the instrument panel is missing, can this be replaced?

You could get a plastic screen pretty easily, and just pop it in. The button that has broken off on yours is pretty easy to snap off, may well have been an accident when the aftermarket steering wheel was put on. I would't worry about the milage being tinkered with, it can't be done that way on a digital mileometer.
