A Pillar Damage Help

  1. #1
    Hi All,

    I'm new to the forum...

I have my MOT on Tuesday but I;m worried on my A Pillar damage on my saxo forte

I had an accident with a lorry and i have a dent approx 2/3 cm's long dent on the A Pillar three quarters down next to the windscreen

Is this an automatic MOT fail???

Dents don't get you an MOT failure.

The body part will only fail or get an advisory if its hanging off.

EDIT: Didnt read properly. It will still only fail if your windscreen is cracked mainly on the drivers side.

    Thank you for the reply

I replaced the windscreen straight after the accident but just a little worried on the A pillar as I thought it would be classed as structual damage

How can you fix damage to the A pillar & would it cost much?

Tbh mate I have no idea how to fix..

But taking an educated guess I'm thinking the glass would have to come out to fit it straight.

But if its only 2-3cm long then that defo will not fail an MOT.

Depends how bad the damage is sometimes damage like that can be fixed using a special jig(bodyshop)is the roof damaged at all?

    Hi Steve,

There's no damage to the roof just the wing is creased and the A Pillar is damaged.

I went to see a garage about about the pillar damage and they said they need to take the windscreen out and if they can't fix it all the could do is fill it in.

Cost wise they said between £300.00 - £350.00 for a new drivers wing (and sprayed) & the A pillar fixed (depending what they could do with it)

Wing isn't an issue to fit / spray yourself.

Put up some pics of the A pillar for us to gauge with?
