It will do the job, but as you have to take the rocker cover off anyway - you might as well do the job right and replace the gasket

Whatever you do, clean everything up well otherwise it wont seal.

Sorry mate, misread the VTS, thought it was a VTR. Yeah any gasket sealer will be fine like i said, just make just that all the oil is cleaned up from both surfaces and dont over do it, just a nice beed all the way around will do the trick.

I use this stuff. I think the procedure with this differs to some such as Hylomar, where you have to let it skin - I just put it on and tighten it down, then torque after 15 mins or so never had a problem with this method just dont use loads and get it spilling out into the oilways.

I use a similar product but made by Wynns. Also in a self-dispensing can... handy stuff and doesn't dry up in the bottle.

However, it's likely your covers will still leak after re-sealing. You're best to remove the covers and then file off the raised bits. Then put them back on with sealant in there.

there are two good 1s 1 is vauxhall gray engine seal and the other is toyota orange engine seal they both are awsum i use them on every thing, but they do have a down side they both cost about £45 and are dealer only.

I will try find the actual name of them in the morning, they are mega, when eva i build a engine or gearbox thats the only stuff i use and iv never had a leak yet.

both the toyota and vauxhall sealants are only expensive because they have manufacturers labels on, same as land rovers sealant for R380 boxes, from them its 32 pounds a bottle lol, ask for the same stuff at a motor factors and its 8 quid without the land rover label.
