is it worth getting a superchip and remap for a 1.4 westie?

    not really.

just wondering what bhp it would take the car up to ? what do us think?

    75 bhp +
    full de-cat s/s exaust
    air filter

then chip and remap would be hoping to get near vtr without the vtr insurance cost as it would cost me an extra £800 on top of my current insurance

superchip would do nothing for your car except raise the rev limit and make it run lean top end, and a remap of the standard ecu isn't required for the engine modifications you currently have. save your money and buy a gmc manifold, you only really need a remap if you fit higher lift/longer duration cams.
you'd see about 4-5 extra bhp if you're lucky from a full exhaust, manifold and filter, and you'll probably find that a modified 1.4 engine will cost the same if not more to insure than a standard 1.6 8v, just ask anyone who has a vts converted vtr.

i have allready tried to get insured on a vtr but it cost too much think they were after £2300, but av been qutoed on a scooby wrx for £2500 dnt see were they get there prices from lol

probably because they assume if you're going to modify the engine, then you plan to drive faster i suppose. imo you should save up until you can afford a faster car (and most importantly pay the insurance), as a 1.4 will never set the world alight tbh

a do like a challenge tho vtrs and vts have all benn modded b4
a wdnt mind doin something special to it like turbo or supercharger
