Help smoothing the Boot lock Trim?

   I want to smooth my boot lock trim and put in a boot popper.
   
   Iv scanned saxp and the internet and cannot find any how to's or any writeups. Anyone have any tips?
   
   want to end up with this... but black

   I did mine with some filler and sprayed it over after removing the lock barrel etc. works ok, but does start to crack after a while. I think you're supposed to plastic weld over the hole, then put a skim of filler over the top of that

   plastic weld the hole sand down then best to use plastic filler from halfords that flexs with the plastic sand down and primer and paint
