Unused sensor?

  1. #1
Just got hold of this Saxo and sorting out the little problems with it, but has got me puzzled. Car runs fine but I've found a sensor on the air box which isn't connected to anything, my initial thoughts were air mass meter, but unsure...
    Oh it's a 2000 8v VTR

if you know which replacement filter is required also would be great - I know round, but there are so many variants (160mmD, 165mmD)

and this loose connector by the nearside front lamps?? - but all lamps are connected!

    any help would be appreciated.

is that green one not something to do with powerstering

First pic is the air temp sensor. Look for the plug around that area. IIRC it is in the loom that connects to the throttle body. 2nd one is just a redundant plug.

Thanks, would the air temp not affect the air/fuel mix in any way? or is it such a marginal change it wouldn't be that noticeable?

It will effect the running of the car but not in a big way. I could not tell if I unplugged mine on my old Mk1 vtr. Just find the wiring - it will be hanging around that area and plug it back in. Should be fine

Just been in about the engine pulling bits out, can't find it! Anyone know where it stems from the loom, is it by the injector assembly?

doh, just seen your post from earlier! it'll be hiding there I guess!

    Curious.....
I have the silver top 8v (2000) engine, but the engine pictured below ('borrowed" from Ryan) shows the same engine but without the air temp sensor on the airbox as I have??? is it possible my airbox has been swapped out with a pre '98 one?

i have that early silvertop engine (1999) and i dont have the plug into the airbox

i do have that green plug though. mines not attached to anything either

I am seriously guessing that it is unlikely that the airbox has been changed out, but confused I still am (yoda spk)
