Important! : Holding Back

  1. #1
just a querie about my vts if i drive the car normally and then drop down a gear and put the foor down it pulls really well. but if i have been putting the foot down quite alot and yes i know i shouldent on public roads but if i do say 80-90 for a couple of minuets. and then stop or slow down and drive normally then put the foot down it seems to be holding back its like as if you are putting your foot down and it was starving for air any ideas.
  2. #2
    Anyone this is important.
  3. #3
Give it a service first if it needs one. Could be quite a few things so can not say from what you have wrote. Also slow down a bit on public roads LooL!
  4. #4
lol yeah i know. i gave it a service the other day i changed the plugs cleaned my pipercross viper induction kit out changed the oil and oil filter also the fuel filter am stuck as to what it is.
  5. #5
Maybe it's in your head, From what you said, I can't really give you advice because loss of power could be many things.

    Is it running lumpy?
    Using loads of fuel?
  6. #6
its not running lumpy but the fuel econamy dosent seem very good.
  7. #7
Check your lambada Sensors then, they can cause what you're describing if they're faulty
    1 user thanked this post:
  8. #8
ok thanks would that cause it to do that also cause the fuel econamy to be crap.
  9. #9
Yup, it tells the ECU how much fuel to add...
  10. #10
also wat would happen if i just unplug it.
  11. #11
am guessing it wouldent run properly if i just unplugged it lol
  12. #12
would you recommend a bosch or ngk one.
  13. #13
i dont mean to spam this but you cant edit a post.

i have a 4-2-1 manifold on was there when i bought the car if i remember correctly thre is 2 lambda sensors on the vts one before the cat and one after mine only had the one after but dosent have the one thats supposed to be in front of the cat will this make a diffrence.
  14. #14
also there is a plug on the engine harnes spare that i am guessing is for the lamba that goes before the cat i am just wondering if its pluged into the wrong connection.
  15. #15
Haha, you can edit posts mate.

As for the sensor, if you unplug it it'll run but use looaaddss of fuel.

    I'm not sure if MK1 VTS's have 2 sensors but MK1 VTR's don't, MK2's do.

I suggest you plug one in and see, or, look it up and find out if you're meant to have two or 1
  16. #16
ok i must look before i reply lol erm mine is mk2 i was thinking of trying it into that other plug as there both the same plug and see what happens what do you think i will have a quick look now and see if it is supposed to have 2.
  17. #17
I'd say it's meant to have two, however if you have a 4-2-1 Manifold, it's most likely been taken off, as you can run without the first one.

Or put it in a sleeve.
  18. #18
ok yes it had been taken of as there is a plug there with no sensor connected to it and its not long enough to reach the second one so i am guessing its for the first one so by taking it off and unplugging it completely will give the same affect as sleeving it correct me if i am wrong.
  19. #19
    Well, not exactly.

That one only needs clean air to work.

By unplugging it it's nor getting any signal at all. So I'd get one and sleeve it mate.
  20. #20
On my MK2 I have it not even sleeved it's just tied up getting clean air lol.
  21. #21
ok i have had an idea shall i use the second one as a first one and sleve that and then buy a new one for the second one if you know what i mean mate.
  22. #22
or does the second one and first one have to be the right ones.
  23. #23
The one that would go after the CAT needs clean air, the one that would go before needs to go int he Manifold.

So, you sleeve the one that is longest, as that doesn't need to be in the Manifold.
  24. #24
so basically i just need to plug one in and thats it coudl i use the second one as a first one and then buy a new one for the second one if u know what i mean.
  25. #25
Yup, you can swap them, As long as you put the right on in the manifold lol.

Man, I'm sorry to make it confusing, it's very simple really!
  26. #26
i dont quite understand there is nothign in the manifold for one to go its just on the underneath near the manifold so do i sleeve the first one or second.
  27. #27
its ok mate lol just dont understand do i sleeve the first or second.
  28. #28
What? You should have at least one hole in your manifold for a Sensor, one sensor will have a short cable, that goes on the manifold near the head (You put this one in the manifold) Then the other one, that would normally go after the CAT will have a longer cable (You sleeve this one).

I hope that made it more understandable for you
  29. #29
yes i think i have got it lol

so basically Lamda from top of manifold (or FIRST Lamda)goes into bottom of new manifold/de-cat pipe and the one that WAS under car (second Lambda) fits into the sleeve. is that correct lol
  30. #30
    You got it my frriieennd
    1 user thanked this post:
  31. #31
awsome thanks very much mate i will get a new lambda tommorow and order a sleeve lol.

    i cant thank you enough.
  32. #32
Happy to help, hope it fixes your problem after all that haha
  33. #33
also one last question how do i know which is which i am guessing its obvs cause one will be short originaly for the top so thats obvs the top one and the long one is obvs the bottom one lol.
  34. #34
    Yeh, Pretty much lol.
  35. #35
lol thanks i will let you know how it goes tommorow

hope fully this will give it a bit more power and better fuel am praying lol.
  36. #36
    It should do mate

    Good luck lol
  37. #37
cheers al need all the luck i can get i think lol
  38. #38
sorry your going to get sick of me lol does it have to be of a vts or would a one out of a vtr work as theres a few vtrs in the scrap yards around here.
  39. #39
If it's free, or cheap, try it lol.
  40. #40
lol might be worth a try but its just a pain if it dosent when i could just go and buy one and save time lol
  41. #41
sorry to jump in on this but i have a mk2 furio with two lamdba sensors that are both plugged into the 4-2-1 mani. would this have a negative effect on my cars preformance??? sorry again for the spam
  42. #42
Nope if the manifold has 2 holes then use them lol.

MK1 Manifolds don't have two holes, so you sleeve one sensor if you fit it on a Mk2.

MK2 Manifolds have 2 holes, so they go straight in
  43. #43
ah sweet cheers dude. cos my car is holding back alot. you can feel power through the revs like on and off. foot to the floor and i feel the engine waking up and going back to sleep through the revs????? just typical french

More than likely due to the weather and the fact you can't expect an Engine that old to be on peak power all the time, Mine is the same.

You'll find most engines are the same, it's just when you get the big ones that are like 500+HP you don't notice the power loss because there's soo much anyway lol.
  45. #45
lol wudnt mind 100bhp never mind 500 lol
  46. #46
lol mines was rolling roaded at 137.4 bhp with shit induction then i fitted a pipercross viper so should be around 140bhp now and might be even more when i fix this hole of a lambda sensor and hopefully better fuel .

"someone remind me why i went from a 306 d turbo to a petrol vts lol i dont know"

    lmao .

and na am not cammed just 4-2-1 full magnex exhaust pipercross viper and remap. cams next i think hopefully shoudl see nearly 160bhp mark
  50. #50
Bad move mapping before Cams lol.

    ITB also
  51. #51
how do u mean mate i was going to get it remaped again after the cams.
  52. #52
Exactly lol, twice the money, when you could have cammed before the first map, saved yourself £40 lol.
  53. #53
lol fewwwww you nearly gave me a coronary heart attack i thought it was going to be bad news lol.

in away it dident cost me anything cause the car is the way it was when i bought it atm lol do you recon 140bhp is good from whats done to it.

still need to sort my speedo clocks thow the only thing that works is fuel it has vtr clocks in so i think i need to get vts clocks for it to work.
  54. #54
Why's it got VTR clocks lol, you sure it's a VTS and not a VTR with an S lump in it haha.

And yeh 140 is good, I'd have thought it would be Cammed for it to get that, 20hp from a manifold and air filter + Remap is good going lol.
  55. #55
lol it is a furio converted mate.
  56. #56
    Oh right sweet
