Roll cage plans/drawings?

  1. #1
    Hi,
I'm about to buy another Saxo to strip & track. I will be wanting to put a roll cage in it.
Today at work I was talking to the fabricators and they said they would make me a roll cage if I could supply the plans/drawings?

Does anybody have any idea where I could find some?

    Thanks

your better off sticking to a design and dont design your own, could be worse off with a badly designed cage than no cage atall, ill try find some drawings for you,

sounds like you will spend just as much but instead of parts you will pay for labour hours.
Have a look at the OMP roll cages on our site for inspiration.

Yes you can! You just have to use all of the correct materials, plates, connecting points etc...Then the scrutineer checks it all over when logbooking.

If you wanting to race/ rally it and its your own design i think it will need a Roll over protection certificate, wich would involve a cad stress drawing, a second cage to be fully welded up out side the car and sent away so it can be tested (destroyed), and alot of cash for the paper work so iv been led to belive. ( i could be wrong tho). If you read the msa blue book ( uk motorsport rule book) it says ur not aloud to add any extra bars even to add strength to proper cage so reading between the lines diy cage big no.

    Hope that helps.

I have just spoken to the MSA in this matter this morning on making your own roll bar and your own design . As long as the basic requirements are met I.e min of 6 points , a single diagonal at the rear and a door bar on each door the deign is up to you. There is no certification required for the bar although it would be beneficial to have the metal used certified, or a certificate produced from the metal supplier

    Very handy info tbh.

I'd always though it HAD to be certified.

and the correct size and spec of tubing isn't it? Main hoop has to be a certain size, and the rest a certain size (but not the same as the main hoop)
