Can anybody recommend some shock absorbers?

  1. #1
I have been looking for some uprated shocks to lower my car with, and was impressed by GAZ gold rears that I saw on ebay for about £100 with postage. The problem is that I can't find the matching front shocks for anywhere near that price.

Firstly, would there be a massive handling/any other issue in running different brands front/back?

Secondly, does anybody have any recommendations for shocks without spending more than about £200 for all four?

    Cheers guys!

You would be lucky to get the bilstein Group N that cheap.
How low do you want to go?

The Apex kit is a very good price and decent quality

Yeah price wise no more than about £200, and I only want to go about 40/50mm.

Anyone know anywhere that sells the gaz fronts cheap?

If not then I just wanna make sure that I'm getting the best kit I can for the money!

50mm APEX kit ordered yesterday from KamRacing, can't wait to get it on!

How much of a problem will a lower strut brace be at 50mm?? I've heard it can be quite a problem?

I would avoid bad camber on roads and go over road humps with the wheels on the hump rather than either side. Most roads will be ok if you drive accordingly.

Kit arrived today, gonna hopefully fit it at the weekend.

Anything to watch out for when fitting? Any tips?

I take it these are adjustable so you can set 35mm to 40mm for the front and 50mm to 45mm on the back?

Have a look on our site for the Apex. We have far better descriptions of the products
    Apex suspension kits

They are not adjustable and the rear is determined by your current torsion bar.
The height is governed by what model you have....

I am looking to get a set of Spax PSX with powerflex all round. Just been told that they are prone to shaft failure. Any gen on this from KamRacing? Will be used mainly for road use covering 80+ miles per day and the odd track day

I don't know if its a common area. We have not have lots of Spax returns to make an opinion (only a couple) but the Apex have been flawless.
