Well got a new gearbox fitted this weekend and now i have developed a leak, So its either the gearbox or the driveshaft seal i used around 2.5 Ltrs or gearbox oil also. Car was sat around 7 hours and there was a puddle on the floor about the size of an orange, Am i still ok to drive it for another week or is it best not to drive it
Driveshaft/Gearbox leak?

#2Could be the driveshaft seal/s , they're only a few quid and fairly easy to change if you are used to working on cars etc. Did you actually put 2.5 litres in or is that a guess? Because it should take 2 litres, and im thinking that might be why your seals are leaking if you've put too much in.

#3He has a point, too much will built pressure up and cause them to leakQuote:Could be the driveshaft seal/s , they're only a few quid and fairly easy to change if you are used to working on cars etc. Did you actually put 2.5 litres in or is that a guess? #4My mates did it and said they used 2.5ltrs, So when it gets to 2ltrs you think it will stop leaking?
-
#5Nah lol, damage will have already been done im afraid, may only be leaking from the 1 side though, best thing is to have a look where the shaft goes in, you'll be able to tell straight away whether its leaking from there or not, check both sides. Cost about £15 for both for me as i used citroen ones, probably get them cheaper from motor factors. It should definatly be 2 litres though.

#6Hope it is just the seals!, Mates coming to check it tonight anyway hopefully its just the seals
-
#7It looks like its coming from the right side of the gearbox when looking from the front end of the car

#8Yeah fingers crossed! Let us know if it it!
