has anyone noticed tow straps are the new lexus lights?

i don't see anyone slating them though.

your views? discuss.

I dont see a point in any form of tow equipment sticking out of a car thats used daily... not likely going to drive in to a gravel pit on your way to tesco are you.... lol

and people are tieing them on with cable ties and stuff.. what the actual fuck. lol

Everytime i see lexus lights on any car other than a lexus. I actually complain out loud for several minutes. The tow eyes look 'ok' on some low civic EGs. (being very specific i know) but really they are pointless.

theyre a bit of a scene kid thing now. looked good at first on track cars etc. the same as how stickerbombing looked really good when the first people did it

I like LED washer jets, they let me know there's a tw@t behind me.

Any input?

On another note, how the hell on earth are you supposed to tow a car on a solid bar with one of them (apart from use the standard tow eye)? Let alone with them cable tied on.

Who ever said a car needs to be modded on a concept? Your claiming fads are taking over and everyones doing the same thing well maybe if people went back to modding for the sake of modding this would mean any euro, oem, track car wouldnt be stuck doing the same stuff that their genre fits them into. Let people mod for the fun of modding and theres no problems.

Btw this isnt a dig just a general statement...

let people mod their cars the way they want.

notice how modifying cars the way people want (in this instance, by adding tow straps) is a form of being different to the norm, thus becoming the norm?

I agree with what your saying regarding people fitting into "groups" but, unfortunately every car scene follows trends. tow straps are the latest trend, and theyre pointless / look crap.

Im not a fan of lexarss lights (even though there on my mango

lol) and the tow straps are really gay unless are put on right, and are on a car that is worthy of it and is gonna be doing the track time

But... i do think the clio style tow eyes are very sleek and sexy, just think they look so modern and smart. what are your opinions on those???

Haven't seen any of those tow straps added to a car (only on pics) so can't decide if i like or not, - but

I got Lexare lights on my car, - and guess what, - i don't care if you like those

I find it a bit funny that everytime people are trying to add something different to their car so that it stick out from the crowd, then other people are saying get rid of this...

It is like the kid asking mom for sodapops and everytime moms says no, you can have milk...

Wondering why people thinks that every car should look the same, just in different colours....

I got a bodykit... because i like it
I got OZ alloys... not VTS or R's,. because i like my OZ's
I got an aftermarket steering wheel, - because i like that, and don't like the original wheel
I haven't colour coded my air intakes or dashboard because at the moment i like them just the way they are

When i meet another Saxo, i like that they are different, instead of everybody looks the same, - i respect what other people are doing to their car, - no matter if i like it or not, no matter if it is like the rest of the crowd or something Halford stylish, - or completely different. It is their car, and if they like it, that is what matters

its exactly the same as i was getting at.

its basically only doing subtle tasteful mods that enhance the OEM Look of the car.

imo saxos look perfectly fine exterior wise standard.

i do think that the saxo needs its own scene for once instead of copying the jap scene or veedub. just for the other scenes to start copying

as for OEM+, yeah i guess it is a scene. but it's acceptable because it's not about doing anything wild to your car to make it stand out; nice clean body work with standard wheels, maybe lowered a bit, gti leathers in. all little mods which don't drastically change the car.

saying that, saxp's stands at the past few FCS / trax are the most boring things i've ever seen in my life. 150 saxo's looking exactly the same...

just for the record, I don't dislike 'different' things on cars.

I dislike it when people do things which are claimed to be different, when in reality everyone else is doing the same thing - IE; just trying to be cool and fit in with the crowd.

I especially dislike the type of mods / comments from owners which are laughable, eg;

- tow straps for non track cars
- roll cages / buckets / stripped interiors for non track cars.
- claiming to have a track car because of the engine mods, but then have it sitting under a cover for fear of dirt and never seeing track in it's life.
- teddys hanging of the rear bumper (because it was 'cool' in the JDM scene a few years back)
- sticker bombing (because it was 'cool' in the JDM scene a few years back
- euro / rat look (because it only suits the VAG scene)

other than those silly / childish scene things. i'm all for modding cars individually to stand out from the crowd, and how ever the user choses to.
