Vibratechnics LHS mount (ECU) fitting problem.....

Has anyone else had touble fitting their mounts?

If not how did you put it all back together.....

I will be fitting mine tomorrow.....seems very straight forward though.....they do come with instructions also.

Yeah mate the other 2 were fine and simple but this one doesn't seem right.....the instruction sheet has one picture and it's black and white, can hardly see the bracket. Maybe i'm not putting it on right but the 12mm bolt seems too short.

Got mine to do this week too. I'm told it's easy enough when you have all the bits to hand.

You're not trying to refit it with the standard engine mount buffer are you?

Well I did try it with and without the buffer.....How have you heard how to fit it? But doesn't the 12mm bolt have to go all the way down into the hole at the bottom?

I had a quick chat with Chris at Manic Motors when I ordered mine the other day, and he told me you don't refit the buffer.

I'd give him a call during working hours if you get stuck - he should be able to help.

Let us know how you get on (with pics if poss), as no doubt I'll have the same problem.

The 12mm bolt doesn't go all the way through the hole in the chassis under the mount too.

LeeumH - I've got to send you those bolt torx, it's on my radar so will send them over when I get a sec!

Mine didn't come with instructions. so I fitted it with the buffer

You have to redrill the arm with this one, unlike the other vibra mounts.

I don't understand how you do the big 12mm bolt up once it's fitted then, it's as tight as a virgin down there.

How I did mine was, I did the bolt up with my fingers but not too iffy so I could still twist the mount round to make fitting it easie plus lining it up better with the bolt holes, but cause it's a nyloc thread I just tightened the nut up and it all tightened up if that makes sense I didn't have to put a spanner under the mount to secure the bolt

Hope that makes sense, but just do it up tightish but still allow some movement in the mount.

haha coincidentally i was trying to fit one today....the quality looks amazing, hope it is reliable! I had to remove the whole inlet manifold to get to the last torque bolt of the mounting! big hassle but done! I agree with vtr_chris90, tighten it enough to twist it then tighten the rest when in place. But once in place you cant really tighten the 12mm bolt any further since it turns from both ends! But its a nyloc so i guess it can never loosen up, right? does anyone have pictures of the installation process??

When I say tighten it up so you can twiddle still? I mean so it's quite stiff and hard to twist but can twist enough still. and then it should have enough bite to tighten up the 12mm bolt fully without it twisting.

I'm sure I did it so the nyloc nut was under the mount if you get me. Will have to double check that though, think thats the reason it didn't spin both ends when tightening.

i'll try it that way, i know the instructions paper said to tighten at 85nm which is quite a lot! but the way you said should work! Thanks mate.

I did the 12mm bolt up so I could still turn the mount, test fitted it to the car to get the mount at the right angle, then removed and tightened the bolt up as much as I could. Used a torque wrench, but couldn't get anywhere near 85nm, even with someone else holding the mount still. Use a 1/2" ratchet and do it up as tight as you can - will be fine.

The nyloc nut should be on the top of mount, but doubt it makes any difference.

I don't know if this is just me, but has anyone else noticed the engine is angled more towards the bulkhead with this mount fitted? I did as the instructions suggested - removed the two upper gearbox mount and engine mount bolts and rocked the engine back and forth, but this doesn't seem to alter the angle.

It's not really a problem, just means I need to adjust my exhaust as it now bangs against one of the gear linkages over harsh bumps.

I had a problem with clearance on mine too, never noticed it on the saxo with the 8v
But now it's on my 16v Rallye, my alternator was like 2mm away from the chassis so it pulled my engine over, which made my exhaust very close to the arb and knocked, also made shifting gears a bit shit sometimes, it felt like the gear linkages were snatching on something.

I ended up filing the chassis to bring the Ecu mount over to give me a bit more clearance, it's now about 10mm away and re angled the batt mount too to help a bit.

Didn't notice it sit a bit toward the bulk head though, I'll look at that next week when I'm on the car messing.
Have you noticed you get a bit of jolt (couldnt find a better word to use) of engine movement sometimes when you let of the throttle at certain rpms? Feels like the engine isn't positioned right and that is what has caused the jolt. So yer I think that has some thing to do with the engine being positioned more towards the bulk head.

May go and visit them again and see if they can come up with a solution

I made a guide to fitting the top mount but it's been removed for some reason....at least a few people found it useful while it was on here.

i have one of these, never had an issue fitting it. mine was 2nd hand already fitted to a top mount...
