am thinkin bout geting a turbo conversion done on ma vts was wondering if anyone has had costings on this and how much should i expect to pay to get a good job done.

3k minimum plus forged pistons, clutch and brakes. when you say 'new' engine, do you mean brand new? if so then add over a grand on to that figure, cheaper just to overhaul your existing engine. how fast you want to go depends on how deep your pockets are.

a doubt a overhaul on ma engine would be wort it as it just over the 90,000 mark can get a new engine from hfh with forged pistons for 1500 but have heard they are quite dodgy.

also will the 266mm discs plus xsara calipers be enough cause a want to keep the 14" rims on.

probably be near enough the limits of those brakes to be honest. i'm sure there are 4 pots which fit under 14" wheels, pricey but bit pointless going fast if you can't stop

get a c2 vts engine in they have a better head then the saxo vts i think.

use 2 head gaskets 2 save money and refurb your engine, and speak 2 ratty as he has or had a modifed vts turbo manifold for sale i thinks, then your figure will be good
and theres a supercharger kit for sale on here too

always use forged pistons, two headgaskets won't get rid of the extra heat of the compressed air which is what kills (melts) the pistons, usually above 5-6psi iirc, and if you're only running 5-6psi then you may as well not even bother. c2 head has larger valves, not sure about the bottom end think it's more or less the same but you still have to use saxo inlet, sump and ecu (or just go standalone).
if you're going to do something then do it properly, especially when cutting corners could end up costing you more money in the long run ie when your pistons fail taking the crank and rods with them and punch a hole in the block.

£3k for basic conversion, £5k+ for mid range covering all requried replacement parts e.g clutch, brakes, suspension, better cooling etc. Entry level will give +30-50 at the wheels (so from 95/100 to 130/150 and bags of torque) and mid range will be anything from 175-200.

get a supercharger mate, yes there a little more expensive, theres one for sale on here he only wants £1500 for the kit http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37623

superchargers rarely last 70k, and if your turbo is looked after e.g. regular oil changes it will last the life of the car, superchargers however recently have had approx 40% return rate (as in the unit brakes within the year) how many turbochargers you hear braking?
