Thanks for looking first of all ....

I'm finding i'm getting a bit of trouble with the old paxo, seems to be lagging in power, sounds sort of scratchy when accelerating as well as tapping quite loudly when accelerating warm and idling cold.

It's hard to explain but when it's cold it seems to lag and be lumpy on accelerator and then it settles down nicely and accelerates ok, then after a while in my 30 mile journey to work it starts to get rough and feels horrible through the acceleration in all gears, almost like it's holding back, jerks on engine breaking and sounds as above really scratchy and horrible.

Just been serviced, cleaned the ICV and the oil is fine on the level.

Anyone got any ideas please ?

Coil pack?

Spark plugs?

Check tapets are adjusted correctly.

check the plugs? if they look black replace them, if that dont cure it i wouldnt mind betting its coil pack breaking down mate

Well i've got a coil pack to try it out so might have a go at that at the weekend if it's not hard, the plugs i think have been replaced so can't be them.

I'll have a word with Jason to adjust the tappets, does all the above really make that much difference to performance then ?

yer if the spark plugs of coil pack is braking down then i wont be firing/igniting the fuel when it should be so then it will throw it out and will just make it run shit really.

would be worth just checking the plugs if they are new or not as some services dont include plugs so might be worth changing them first if they not new as they brake down after a while.
