Same size, possibly higher rated due to the slightly heavier 16v engine. Get em!

Please DO NOT do as suggested by McWaffle. The standard springs are quite long and under considerable tension. Spring compressors, common sense and a safety first approach is needed.

McWaffle - pls be careful with advise you give - could have caused the lad an injury there mate. I realise you might have been thinking of lowered srings which you can generally fit without compressors but still

LOL i was gunna say WTF! cheers steveo - sensible approach all the way, i really dont want a spring under more tension than the birmingham city football club board to go mental and rip my face off.

use compressor's every time, I follow advice from somebody that clearly never knew what they where doing and a standard spring fucked across the garage at stupid speeds...

Take a spring off without compressors!!??!!?? that's ridiculous! There's no way you can do that unless you want to sacrifice your face!

    SAFETY FIRST! Use compressors!

Also VillicusVTR, there some spring compressors in halfords, they are about £15-£20 and they do the job.

The Apex springs are no different between models.

However the 50mm Apex springs are very short and designed to be used with shortened dampers.

If your planning on keeping these with standard dampers you may have issues with the spring unseating which wont be particularly safe.

Springs such as the Eibach 50mm ones are a progressive type spring which enable you to keep standard dampers.

haha i can back these guys i tried doing it with rope and a piece of wood was all going well until i slipped the spring missed me by a few inches and launched itself through the garage roof if a tensioned spring hits you in the face you will be in A+E (best case scenario) needless to say i bought some compressors and learned a valuble lesson
