Important! : Steering wheel wobble

  1. #1
wonder if you could help me...anything below 60 is fine... once i get to around 60-70 mph my steering wheel starts to wobble/shake really bad then around 80 mph it stops... ive had the wheels balanced twice but still does the same.
it was a second hand tyre but surely that couldnt make my steering wheel wobble?

Possibly a tracking problem. . maybe both wheels are facing inwards/outwards. . .
i would of said it was defo a wheel balance problem. . but if you've had that done. . .

distorted driveshaft. ive bent 2 of them somehow?
  4. #4
slightly buckled wheel maybe and balanceing isnt sorting it out fully
  5. #5
    Tyre pressures all even?

i had this on my car worped brake disks i changed them and it stopped

budhings/bearings gone in the back axel.. common enough problem and makes the wheel shake.. check for play in the back wheels

i have exactly the same problem and stops at 80mph ^^

the person i bought my alloys off i think tanked the one, little gouge in it, so gonna pop that on the back and see.

Just change the wheels around and have a look then.

I have this but from 80-90 then stops

I have this but it gets worse. Too the point where you can feel the vibration under the pedals. I've had wheels balanced and even tried different set on and still the same. Going to have to get it checked out i guess.

2morrow hopefully im getting my tyers changed for smaller ones (rubbing...) so ill put the what i think dodgy alloy on the back and have a look then (they have been balanced aswell + tracking is fine).

if not ill put my old 13inch steels on and see if its the alloys

I had this on my VTS, i changed the engine mounts for pugsport Group N's and now its perfect, only vibrates as the engine mounts are solid ones

when we had that bad weather (snow) i did slide and hit the curb.
got a new alloy and tyre.. and its only happened from then on.. so it could be a bent driveshaft.. or something to do with me hitting the curb.

also one of my front tyres keep going down.. could that cause the wheel to shake? as its never stays to 30psi...?

How fast did you hit the curb?

    Could've damaged:

    Wishbone
    track rod end
    Droplink

was only about 10mph but going across the ice made it quicker so.. maybe a bit more than that.

mine used to shake etc after hitting a kerb, when i changed drop links and wishbones it dissappeared

sounds like wish bone or something then.... i will have to change the possible bits that could be damaged... great more money

    cheers for helping people.
