my vts idling up and down need help

   my vts idling up and down need help
   
   when my vts is idling is up and down and some times it feels if it going to cut out and has cut out a few times

   Could be one of these :
   
   Temp sensor
   Idle control valve
   Map sensor
   
   Start with cleaning the idle control valve with carb cleaner and if no joy start eliminating the sensors, does the car need servicing as that could help too

   Hi err I'm abit new to this I brought a 2002 saxo vts today drove it all the way back about 90 miles no problem got back the mrs took it for a spin and when she came back it was revving high about 2500-3000 then I would turn it off and it would start fine but was ticking over at about 1500 so I thought it could be the idle control valve so I removed it ( I think it was the icv it was situated on the back of the throttle body??) when I took it out a long thread like thing came out of the plastic part because it had a thread on it I thought it shouldn't come out can anyone help me it's a mint car just abit gutted just brought it and I've gotta start messing with it already
