metel hitting meteel sound when changeing gear!

   right on the mrs 106 without yet getting time to look
   
   whenever you put it in say 1st or 2nd it sounds like a knocking noise,like the linkage is hitting the centre section kinda noise?
   
   anyone know if im right or if theres somthing else it could be?
   
   gonna have a look this week anyway but just incase
   
   
   its nothing todo with the gearbox/it seletects and drives fine...and had a refurbed one 3k ago lol

   Gear selector linkage hitting exhaust downpipe section is quite likely
