#4a similar size ones will be nova or corsa ones. you can buy them very cheap on ebay in chrome. as its a custom fit any ones off a small car should fit. just have to position them right
-
#5i read somewere a while back that the saxo bonnet isnt really rigid enough for the piston arm type things, dunno if its true, but i know my bonnet does flex quite a bit compared to a mates gti
-
#6You can use gti gas strut on a saxos bonnet, but you need to get 4 brackets welded on, and the brackets are 10 quid each, + the price of welding welding, I have the struts ready to go on my vtr, just haven't got Round to it yet
I'll find the link to the brackets you need when I get home later -
#7could they not be bolted on somewere??

#11Sorry mate, not been home today, ill post link tomorrow, but I'm sure you could get a garage to make some brackets up for you, £40 + welding costs is abit extreme just to have gas struts, ask around for quotes,
I'll find you the link tomorrow anyways

#12Just got home, these are the brackets you need:

Im not sure if you need 2 or 4 of them (Ill have a look at my gti later) plus the gas struts, and the welding
its alot of hastle/time/money for such a "simple" mod idea
I am going to be doing it to my vtr some time soon tho
-
#13or do what i did and get a old boot and cut them off or go to a scrappy and get them to cut them off the bonnet and boot then all you need to do is cut and weld them to where you need and jobs a goodun at half the cost

#14my mate bought some gas struts for his astravan, one on each side only came to 20quid not too bad i thought and they bolted onto the bonnet hinge and somewhere further down the wing, the wing bounced about abit simply because its thin but after lifting the bonnet up and down abit to loosen the struts abit they were fine

#15Scrapyard! Vw lips, just cut one out and weld it in!
