HI all on this miserable bank holiday i have a 2000 model citroen saxo and the battery or alternator is going . The car runs fine after being jump started but if i leave it over night it wont start in the morning .. HOw do i know if the alternator needs changing is there a dashboard light that comes on ???

the battery was recently replaced from a scrappy and was running fine until i accidentally half started the car uf ya know what i mean... i turned the ignition but didn't fully turn it ... i think that drained a lot of power when i didn't fully start the car

Take it to either kwik fit(thick fit) or Halfords for a free battery/alternator test.

If you have a chum with a Voltmeter

If need jump - do so - disconnect jump....

whack meter on the battery terminals - hold it on with the engine running.

Put the stereo, main beam, fogs on...

Leave like this for a couple of mins....

Meter should read 14Volts - give or take a fraction...

If volts is 12volts or below - it could be the alternator not pushing charge into your battery

Check how tight the battery terminls are too.
