i have a saxo furio (2000) and i just got some alloys for it. they are momo course ones that are 195/50/15. they seem to get very close to the car when they're on, and im not sure if they are gonna rub or not. they get especilly close to the bar that connects the wheel to the chassis. would some spacers be a good idea? what does the clearence need to be?
alloy wheels a bit tight?

#2are they for a saxo?
is the car lowered?
think most people run 45 prof tyres -
#3yup the profile is a bit (only 5% increase) on the big side. Should still be enough room tho.
The alloys themselves are usually made for Fords (which have a different offset to the saxo) then spacers are provided or can be obtained to give the correct offest for your car. Check the offset of the alloys.
The Saxo's is ET 15-18 (or something like that) -
#4the offset is ET 18. i dont think the profile is too much of a problem, more the width or offset. how close is it supposed to be to the rear wheel axle bar thing.
-
#5Well the offset is correct and the tyres arent any wider than the saxo MK2 VTS jobbies. so it'll be fine - just the profile is a tad iffy.Quote:Originally Posted by furiomikethe offset is ET 18. i dont think the profile is too much of a problem, more the width or offset. how close is it supposed to be to the rear wheel axle bar thing.
whack them on and find out

#6well surely this profile on some 15's isnt gonna be any bigger than a lower profile on some 16's?
-
#7i had 50 profile and they rubed with full car get some 45 profiles
-
#8yeah it will be. most people opt for a 40 profile on 16's.Quote:Originally Posted by furiomikewell surely this profile on some 15's isnt gonna be any bigger than a lower profile on some 16's?
and 45 profile on 16's means a bit of rubbage -
#9my mistake..... just been out to the garage and they are 45 profile.
-
#10HAHA legendary thread this!!!Quote:Originally Posted by furiomikemy mistake..... just been out to the garage and they are 45 profile.
respect man :Y: -
#11They should be fine mate... if you did worry about them then you could make them a tad further away by reducing the offset from 18 to 15 by buying some 3mm spacers (although any wheels with offset in the range 18-15 are deemed correct fitment for saxo's) ... but you may need to get longer bolts...
45 profiles are fine... i have them on my vts rims on a furio with no rubbage... you cannot compare them with the tyre profile on 16 inch rims as it is a percentage of the total diameter... so 45 profile tyres on 15's are thinner than 45 profile tyres on 16's.
Hope that helps

#12well this is my first car. i havn't even driven it yet because is came complete with rear pucture. just bare with me

#13doesnt matter, the rear suspension can only move up and down so even if its sitting 0.5mm away from the rear arms its never going to hit them, if it doesnt touch it your fineQuote:Originally Posted by furiomikethe offset is ET 18. i dont think the profile is too much of a problem, more the width or offset. how close is it supposed to be to the rear wheel axle bar thing.

#14explain that to my dadQuote:Originally Posted by Scottdoesnt matter, the rear suspension can only move up and down so even if its sitting 0.5mm away from the rear arms its never going to hit them, if it doesnt touch it your fine

#15Sign him up then and i will
Rear arms can only move up and down, unless they are fecked and they might lean in slightly but otherwise it doesnt matter how close the wheels sit at the rear if they are not touching the inside then they wont
