Petrol Additives

I'm going to put a full tank in tommorow before I do I was wondering whats the best fuel treatment to use.
I've run it near dry back in the dark days of no money so god only knows what the state of my baby's engines like.

Was thinking of getting a fullsize bottle of Redex but is there anything better than that?

It doesn't like Optimax I get less, i.e 75 miles to a tenner on Optimax but when I put normal petty in I get about 95 to a tenner thats running to the bottom about 40 miles into the fuel light.

    redex should do the trick.

I use some Millers product on mine.
    does the job nicely.

i used stp but it wasnt that good, iv used hotshotz (its in a bright orange bottle) and it worked very well on my car probably bcoz i done 15`000 miles without any additive.but like b4, its totally up 2 u wether you use it or not.
  12. #12
it will make a difference but dont expect to be doing an extra 100 mile an hour, unnoticeable difference but helps look after your engine in the long run. think you can get additives to put in your oil aswel.

you think i should use the stp stuff?

    redex imo

    which one is your choice.
the injector cleaner does -Cleans injectors, Reduces exhuast emissions, Restores performance, Increases fuel economy

the petrol treatment does - Cleans carburettors and fuel system, Reduces exhaust emissions, Restores performance, Increases fuel economy

so its really a choice of weather you want to clean your fuel system or injectors?

    hope that helps

yeah it does! al give this stp shit ago! 250ml only does one tank full, and am going to check prices of super unleaded, shell optimax or that bp ultimate now!

added it to my tank tody, went for a drive on the "stage" ran out of petrol hehe! had to get richie to come with some fuel, now full to the brim and added the STP Fuel injector cleaner to the system! says treats 50 - 60 ltrs of fuel but only have 44 in tank still put it all in though! i will post my findings!

I use Redex now and again if that helps anyone... but really you wont see the difference, its like getting your car serviced it just looks after it, dont make it go faster or have any noticeable gain, will it will if your car drives like crap then you get a service, but you know what i mean, hope it works out for ya stevey. you should use some every so many miles, should tell you on the bottle.

That reminds me, i haven't put any in for ages. I need a service too!

this stuff is every 3000 just stuck with the stp stuff.... keep you huys posted!

perhaps I'm being cynical but I think its the same stuff in each bottle.
