had my drive shafts fitted today and i saw the mechanic do something wierd. I just wondered if you guys knew what its done for. Basically when he put my new shaft in, on either side. Where the metal bit of the shaft comes poking through the hub and the big nut goes on. He kinda hit the inside of the nut with a chizel so it made a mark? Does any one know what he was doing or is it un necessary lol cheers.

if u mean after he tightened the nut up then its just to make sure it doesnt come loose.

He was making sure the wheels fall off when you drive it.
