is there a way in which you can mesh the grill and keep the chevrons like people do with the mk2's?

Stick them straight on to the mesh is probably your best bet...just make sure you do it straight and evenly!!!

i did this but then it didnt really look that good so i just took them off and kept it plain meshed, looks so much better imo

you could do it on a smiley/widemouth grill and mount the some way to the mesh cant be to hard tbh :/ or just have a chevronless grill looks better ona mk1 imo
