Flat Battery?

  1. #1
    Hi,

I'm having a problem with my 52 plate Saxo. It was running fine up until I tried to start it a couple of hours ago. It wouldn't start, my clock had reset, the electric windows were hardly working and my central locking wasn't working either.

I got a jump start and everything seemed to be working fine. I took it for a run on the motorway, I must have done about 25 miles in all with no problems. I pulled up outside my house and turned the engine off. When I tried to turn it over again, everything was dead, the same as before.

I guess a new battery is in order? Just hope it isn't anything else.

    Thanks

    Tim

    Check the alternator?

I was thinking about the alternator too but having read around a bit it seems like the car wouldn't have ran for those 25 miles if it was the alternator?

Various posts on here and other sites mentioned that the battery would have drained, especially with lights etc on.

yeah i would say alternator go to one of your local auto spared they will probs have a machine to test it.

If the alternator was not charging i doubt he would have managed 25 miles on a nearly dead battery. Strongly suggest battery is dead and is not holding a charge. Check voltage at battery with engine running - should be about 14v if alternator is working.

Pretty sure you need a new battery.. got fuck all capacity charge left.. same happened to me, if the alternator went you wouldn't of got it started to drive home
but if you're unsure quickfit and other garages do a free alternator and battery check
btw a new battery should only be around 30 pound from a local motor factors
