yet another clutch thread yawn!

right i changed my gearbox other day as mine was like bust, the clutch fork had broke and was making some strange sounds, but when i got the box off i found that the little lugs had nearly broke off the back of the release bearing is only 2 months old valeo aswell anyway i went and picked up a new bearing as that one wouldnt stay on the new fork, the new bearing stayed on a treat, when put it all back together the problem have got when car is idleing somtimes when pressing the clutch down and bringing it back up theres like a little rattling sound coming from the bearing i think as goes when press it back down, but i dont see how is possible as is a new bearing and i made sure was on the fork right, is it possible the clutch needs adjusting as my biting point is nearly at the top, theres no way am taking it back off again was a pain the first time!

    any help would be great

To be honest with you it sounds like a release bearring, which i'm sure you didn't want to hear, but it certainly sounds that way. Did you also check the condition of the flywheel?

I just swapped mine for similar reason.
Sometimes could hear bearing swish when foot off clutch - bearing swish went when clutch in.

There is a fault with all of these boxes - Citroen told me yesterday.

The rod the fork is on is bushed in two white plastic bushes and the fit is pretty slack. when you pull clutch in the rod leans due to the bush slack - the result is one Fork arm pushes the release bearing more than the other. The other effect of this assymetric action has on the thin steel tube the brearing slides on - it gets worn thin as the bearing scrapes along it - rather than gliding from a balanced fork effort. It also maked the bearing last less as bearing gets pinche against cover springs in one place - rather than symmettrical effort.

If you look at the impact marks from the fork on the rear of the bearing you will see the tell tale marks - one is deeper and larger than the other.

tbh dont see how could be the bearing was only put on yesterday okay it isnt a valeo one which was with the kit to start with but cant find anywere that will replace it with a valeo bearing, lugs are that small could break them off with my little finger what a stupid idea!
