Hi guys could someone please put up a picture of the rear brakes. I've been told my pads are in wrong and after a short drive today I noticed one pad had slipped and almost fallen out

    Hi chap

Pics below are of the offside of my mk1 1.4sx. Nearside is the exact reverse in terms of assembling the adjuster onto the shoe.

Did you do the shoes yourself? Are you sure you have the right ones? There's quite a few different types unfortunately. Which bit is it that has detached?

    Hope these pics help:

    Part number for the shoes:

What a shagged cylinder looks like (2x blown seals) which is why mine were apart in the first place.

you have a vtr so it wont be the drum will it it will be the disc?

Ah, my bad, could have been a replacement beam though?

Still no pads on a rear shoe/ drum setup.

haha possibly! very much doubt people would go to drums but hey ya never know!

sounds like the retaining pin wasnt in?

Meh, drums are more powerful than disks anyway, just crap at shedding heat. Besides most of the braking is done on the front anyway.

indeed! good pics of the drums anyway! helpful to ones who have them!

Drums are ace for the old handbrake turn. love how they lock up

Yup, figured i'd leave em up anyways. Only useful for people with those type of shoes though. I found out the hard way that there's more than 1 type of shoe for the 1.4!

Yeah, not so good when the shoes and cylinders are knackered though
