Water Leak

  1. #1
Now then, since ive just finished work and its been lashing down, there is water leaking in through the interior light.

Firstly, is it easy to get the interior light etc out to clean it up, and should i be sealing the Aerial, or will it be through the sunroof??

    Thanks

mine is doing the same mate, f*cking annoying when going round a corner and water pisses out and makes it looks your have wet yourself. and think it is the aerial

Looks like it could be the aerial tbh, gonna have to get some black silicone at the weekend.

Thing is my interior light doesnt work because of this, so gonna have to get it sorted soon

oh unlucky, good luck and you reckon u could update how you get if it works

Pop the interior light out and there is a nut, iirc its 14mm but you will need a socket, tighten that up and it should stop leeking

Yea remove areal base nut! Then put plenty of silicone or simmerler around the bolt, screw nut back on spread the excess around it all and should be a nice water proof seal when set!

And new interior light won't be much

Thanks for the replies, im worried about getting the main trim out, incase i break it? Does it easily clip out, or do you have to be careful?

Just give it a quick pull it just pops out, then disconnect the switch at the back, make sure you don't have keys in the ignition and dry the interior light out, you will probably need a new bulb aswell. Then as above, undo the base nut, put some sealant and leave to dry then just a case of nut back on and put it back together

mine used to do this in the end i found out it was just because my sunroof wasnt closed quite tight enough since then its never leaked, guess i was lucky though could be other things

Ive got the interior light out, but the rest of the trim is still there? Im scared to pull it out incase i snap something and cant get it back up?

There is a bolt above the light, do you's think this is all that need tightening?
