Coolant overheating problem.

Here it goes another day another problem

My coolant boils out of the expansion tank cap, the cooling system from the thermostat onwards never gets hot, the pipe from the thermostat to the radiator and the radiator itself don't get hot. The fan never kicks in at all. The overheating light does not come on.

So I changed the expansion cap and it does the same. I do a coolant flush to make sure there is no blockages, loads of rusty crap but made no difference. i have ran a direct feed to the fan and that works fine. I have bought a new thermostat but when refitting the elbow the tired plastic cracked. So I couldn't run it long enough to see it is made a difference.

Only things I can think of is knackered temp sensor or a knackered water pump.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah they get hot. Were you thinking air lock? Did the refill as per haynes, done it a couple of times actually as I thought this also.

I have replaced it but not had a chance to test it as the thermostat elbow has cracked so am getting another one from Citroen tomorrow. Will let you know it this has fixed it.
