Alarm goes off but i can still start and drive the car,,,,,,

Ok, this has puzzled me really, got a posi Mk1 VTS and the alarm keeps going off, every time i open the door manually, because the central locking has stopped working after, i tried to investigate and removed the Central locking ecu, i've never head of them as such locking but would this be the case as its back in and the central locking doesn't work and alarm goes off, but no lights on the dash and i can start and drive the car fine, just lots of flashing lights and the alarm going off (disconnected the siren as it got quite painful after a while)
    cheers

I'm having a similar problem to you Jordy, everytime I open my door the alarm goes off, it's doing my head in.

Check with some wiring diagrams and check all wires are in the correct areas, If that fails it could possibly be a sensor. You could try bypassing the sensor.

Yes but even if you bypass the the door switch it will go off when you start the car. i know the loom may of been chopped but that was for things like heater controls etc, nothing to do with the alarm.

ahh i'm being a tool, i've got a couple of interior earths disconnected atm so that may be it, and also have the Keypad removed (as the ecu is unlocked) but i may just bung it in to see if it just completes the circuit.

Yep not sure if its the locking mechanism inside the door or not, are they easy to replace? if so then I might try that. I can start the car fine but as soon as I open the drivers door, alarm goes off.

Does the remote fob work, cos thats what arms and disarms the alarm?

Sorry to hijack thread, but when I press my fob to lock it, you can hear it lock, but you can still open the door then the alarm goes off and wont stop for about 30 seconds.

No the fob doesn't do that it a by product of activating the central locking, the fob will lock and unlock the car, and the alarm is activated when the car is locked. but you can still use the key for the central locking,

Surely there's a fuse for the RCL and alarm you can pull?
