Driver side front spring snapped

  1. #1
Today as i was turning in the road the spring on the drivers side just snapped and now the rest of it is resting on the wheel. As i don't know much about cars whats the best plan of action to replace springs both sides?
To top it of was trying to sell my car at the time. BUMMER

Damn man, yeh replace both springs, then you know they're both done.

Although, if you're selling it, just do the one lol.

    Awesome advise!

If one spring has snapped and you suspect the other to be just as bad, the ONLY course of action is to replace both, however if you are more comfortable taking left hand bends faster than right hand bends then the nearside spring should be ok and therefore just replace the offside one.

If you sell the car and the other spring goes shortly after you have sold it and there is an accident you may be held accountable for selling a vehicle with a known defect. Especially now you have asked the question on here.

Personally if i have any doubts about something not being wrong then it will be investigated before i use the car again and if that means being without a car, so be it. Id rather have to buy another car than be in an accident with my kid in the car.

Just buy a pair of springs and replace them both. Can you even buy springs on their own?

We're hardly talking about big bucks for a set of springs

Most coil springs are sold as a pair, especially oe ones. Best to do both to save having a nice new tight spring on one side and a saggy soft one on the other

springs are sold seperatly (pattern part ones) only really need to change the one just give the other side a look over.

Fairly easy. Remove arb drop link, track rod end and wishbone from strut. Undo strut top nuts and remove strut from the car. Dismantle strut and replace spring. Then refit.
