vts engine not making enough power

  1. #1
hi all , my friend has recently carried out a vts conversion into his vtr. he brought the engine on a crate with all the neccesary parts to finish the conversion. its running a dastek piggybank ecu on top of a unlocked ecu. also the engine is cammed

the problem we are having is the car is no way producing enough power from the vts engine. also it cuts out on idle. what could make the engine produce less power? you would think your driving a 1.1 it seems to me its mapped okay as it revs smoothly when your taking it round the rev range, and also idles fine. just when your driving and come to a stop it will cut out

    any advise

What mileage is the engine on?When was it last serviced? Both things can affect power mate.

its around 70k miles and just had a cambelt change , waterpump and oil/filter

would there be any sensors which would maybe cause this

Possibly look at the ECU mate take the car into a place that can, adjust the map then see how its running. The person that springs to mind would be Luthor off here who I believe is based in/near pompey mate.

Hi Wayne, long time no see mate!

Could be cam timing, or blocked intake/exhaust, poor fuelling, incorrect fuel pressure, pretty much *anything* really!!

thanks guys for your inputs , i think the best bet at this time is to get it on a rolling road to see what kind of map it has on it.
