Does any one know what the law says on window tints? Are you allowed to touch the front side windows? Also any1 rekon they would look ok on a standard red saxo?

    Cheers

    Search matey.

Look for a post by DevilDamo, has all the info in there.

Think the law is 30% on the fronts and as dark as you like on the rears.

You can search. Many people will tell you you're allowed an x% of tint on the front side windows, etc... but all cars nowadays come with tinted glass so anything that is applied on after is infact considered illegal. If the police are harsh in your area, then I'd have the rear sides and rear windscreen tinted (light smoke) and leave the front sides. It wouldn't look too bad if you left the front sides clear and had the others light smoke. But it would look a bit silly (imho) if you had the rears done in dark smoke (limo) tint.

I have mine all mine tinted (apart from the front windscreen obviously) light smoke and they're fine. To this day I haven't been asked to remove them *touches wood*.

When you do have them done, make sure you get yourself some Clio weatherstrips/seals. If you don't, then the film will become scratched and you'll have to have them re-done again.

i got my tints done at automotive tints and he told me he could LEGALLY tint my fronts by 30% so he did, no problems yet but only had them for week and half. If i get any problems i will soon point the blame on the company.

any front tints are illegal saxos windows are tinted as it is mine were done lightest tint and they were illegal by a long way.. Just get light tints on the 3 rears and it will look fine

if you get rears done dark smoke and have the front sides light smoke then they will appear to be standard compared to the rears if needs be put your windows down so they cant see them

thats fair comment i dont think i'd want anything more then just a light smoke anyways. would look ok on a red saxo just rear 3? may consider it.

I've got it lightly tinted on the front and then a bit darker on the back, worst they can do is ask me to take the front ones out

    Hope this helps

Its a fairly new law (within last 6-12 months i think) that states that you cannot have any tints forward of the B pillar. however i think you're unlikely to get stopped if you have light smoked. and yes on the rears you can have whatever you want.

Of course its still upto local police discretion with tints, some you wont get hassled atall with darker tints on the front.
