C.V Joint boot kit (Pass inner Gator) Question

    Right My Passenger side inner cv boot gator has split & i bought a new one from wilco.
    I rang a garage to get a quote on fitting it
    but
    they said they have have to replace the whole drive shaft aswell as me gator is this correct.
    because i fort u had to pop out the drive shaft then replace the gator them pop it back in. (fuck i made that sound so simple lol)
    can anyone shed any light on this plz and am in a right confussed[dot]com

    they quote 1.5 hours labour @ £60 for the job without parts
    i bought a inner boot kit for £24
    pass drive shaft is about £100 i guess (NEW)?!?!

    hi you can pick up a drive shaft on ebay for about 40 , but looks to me as there trying to charge for the cv boot but make out they swapped the whole lot , you can buy cv boots that have a split down them , and are glued , not the best but work , the pass side drive shaft is eazy to change really if you buy a new one and do it your self

    The inner boot is connected to the shaft, it happened to me and I had to replace the whole shaft. Its the outer boot that can be replaced!

    £35 posted off of egay

    You can replace the inner boot. It is a little more hassle then the outer but not that much.

    It is just boot and a metal sleeve which you have to knock on to seal it...

    This information could have saved me a few bob lol ah well too late now haha
