irratic temp gauge

   bought a saxo and on the way home i noticed that the temp didnt go over 1/4, but i was going approx 80mph so thought it kept it really cool. today i noticed sat in traffic that it was wandering over the half way then the fan would kick in and take it back to the halfway mark.
   
   im assuming it shouldnt do this, could it maybe need a thermostat?

   possibly no thermostat in it or its just the thermostat jammed open. goin over halfway and the fan kicking in is normal as they all tend to do that/ heat up.

   cheers, i didnt know if it was a thing that they do. should it go to about 3/4 though? as it was almost that when idling before the fan kicked in.
   
   im giving it a good service next week so il change the thermostat at the same time i think

   mine raises to 3/4 roughly if im being abit heavy with my right foot my radiators seen better days thought so thinking it could be that maybe look at yours

   Its pretty normal for a saxo really wouldnt worry about it unless its causing problems

   radiator is perfect, looks like its been replaced at some point. it was pretty hot today (weather wise) so think il just see if it worsens then, fans brought it down when it went high and it cooled well when driving

   they do fluxuate abit just as it heats up then the fan brings it back down probably fine maybe just add some more water or antifreeeze

   If you do replace the thermostat & the gauge still acts up then change the temperature gauge sensor as mine was doing it & fitting a new sensor fixed it.
