    hi

i have a saxo 1.5 D and there is a problem with the mileage on the speedo

when it turns over 100 mile the 3 to the left go over too

    i.e. 155000 +100 =266100

is it ball locks ed lol

if i did change the dash cluster could i put in a new type with the lcd display?

by the way its a s reg 98

You have a Mk1 Saxo. These are actually Analog numbers that spin round on the speedo?

Sounds like you've been tampering with the meilage, they don't just change for any old reason.

You can change the cluster for another pair that have the simular mileage.

You can NOT put in LCD display. The reason being is that this is only aviable on the Mk2's. The mileage on the Mk2's are stored in the ECU (On board computer). Trying to put a set of Mk2 (LCD Displays) into a Mk1 will not work.

mileage isn't stored in the ECU at all, its in the clocks.

plus the fact the diesels dont even have an ecu

i have got hold of some clocks out a vts or a vtr

is the rev counter a standard unit with a differant scale on it for the diesels?
or will i need to swap the rev counter over ?

Rev counter is standard I believe just the rev range ie the vts has a higher rev limit.

be carefull with the clock though. its actualy a criminal offence to tamper with, adjust or anything else with regards to clocks. if its broken get it sorted by a citreon dealer. might be pricey but if its not sorted u can never sell the car and an mot, police pull may get u into a lot of trouble

according to a Citroen mechanic its stored on the ecu and on the clocks, should u replace either with a different mileage it adds the two together.

apparently its to help prevent the 'clocking of cars'

(sorry thats not meant be a personal dig its just what i was told)

the diesel doesn't have a ecu and the clocks are mechanial

i not to botherd about it coz its next owner will be the scrap yard in a couple of years lol

its also had some mots were the mileage was all over the place (no reported problems)

it just that its anoying looking at it lol

lol u could always take the lense of the dials then just wack some tape over it so u cant see it thats what my mate did when his airbag light came on
