Before 2001 its based on engine size after 2001 its based on emissions

Its due to the emissions regs on the later mk2 engine. Otherwise known as robbery if you've got an older car

pretty much robbery altogether. Volvo has conducted a study which demonstrated that the air coming out of your car is cleaner than the air coming in. (as long as it's properly maintained, with a cat converter etc of course).

I reckon they should tax the shit out of those diesels that are followed by a cloud of black smoke, I never understood why I should pay more tax than some of them.

Nope its due to the car tax regs that said that cars registered before the 1st march 2001 stayed in the "ALL" category whereas its one price for all regardless of emissions, cars registered after March 1st 2001 are taxed based on their emissions hence why its £112.75 for my Jan 01 vtr and about £85 quid for my June 2001 vtr

    The robbing theiving government bastards

Incidentally a Feb 28th 2001 car AND a March 2nd 2001 car both have the same limits on emissions ie 200ppm same CO etc etc which makes it an even bigger mockery by these green worshipping, self righteous, pompous Torys

I payed more tax on my vtr than most RX-7 owners due to lots of them being registered as 1300cc.
