Lost key - Switching ignition barrel

Hi there, I know its not like me to ask questions, and i'm pretty sure i know the answer to this but i'm gunna crack on and ask anyway.

I've got a citroen saxo vts. I've lost the key for it. The ECU is unlocked.
I've got a scrap saxo vtr. With spare key and ignition barrel, Ecu locked but can be unlocked (shouldnt make a diff though..).

As the VTS ecu is unlocked, is it just a simple job of taking the ignition barrel off the VTR and popping it on the VTS, thus enabling me to use my VTR key on the VTS? Obviously if it works swap the door locks over too.

I believe theres a chip of some kind in the key... But that wouldn't matter if the ecu is unlocked... correctamundo? Or not so much correctomundo?

One last thing, any tips on gettin the petrol cap off without a key? =\

I thought that all Saxo keys fitted petrol caps?

I'm probably wrong here, but I'm sure I read it on here somewhere.

Wrong. The petrol cap barrel is the same cut as the rest of the barrels, therefore only correct key will fit

I am having the same problem with 106 quicksilver vtr conversion. I have a unlocked ecu as i have done an engine swap and have had it running since. I then lost the key, replaced the the ignition barrell and havent had the car running since. can anyone tell me if this worked or if they have a fix. please help
