Whining noise when accelerate after cam belt change

As title says guys started after I've had cam belt changed.
Any ideas and should I be worried.

Belt is most likely too tight. Did you change the tensioners etc?

yeah probably a little bit too tight a really slight bit too tight can make it whine

Mine is the same but its very very faint and i think it sounds kinda cool when changeing gears and that

Mine had a pointer on the bearing so you get it bang on.
Try taking you aux belt off and see if it stops.

16V engine? If so, quite a lot of non-genuine belts make these engines sound quite whiney at high revs, i.e. Gates, Dayco etc. It's something to do with how the belt is made.

If you're in any doubt, get the tension checked, but if the tension is fine, don't worry about it.

I'm afraid you're wrong there buddy. An overtightened belt is worse than a slack belt.

Also, to the guy who said he had a pointer... you would of had the later type 1.4 engine.

Well spoke to mechanic and informed him of this and he said he thinks it will be Tens pulley on cambelt what ever that is and the whining noise should go, if not to get it back to him.

Thats bollocks mate, if a tensioner or anything is whining after the belt change i wouldnt let the car leave the workshop

Ye I'm just worried about driving it now mate I got the cam belt done as I was unsure if it had been done or not and now might end up snapping on me even tho I've payed to have a new one fitted.
Really don't no what's up with the mechanic I have used him since I got Ny first car and recently he seems to be getting a bit sloppy and things not getting done right.

Don't do long drives or any unnecessary journeys! My partners was too tight n he drove his around for a bit before his mate could sort it n it was ok! But get it sorted as soon as u can tho

Will do thanks. Best get on the phone with him Tomorow and get it sorted out as soon as.
Look like I'm going to be without the car again, only got it back yesterday after 3 days without it.
Guess it's going to be time to find myself a new mechanic.

Who do you think make the belts for car companies? Most car companies out source parts I.e. Gates they make the cam belts for ford, I seen citreon belts but it say gates when you open it up.

The tension needs setting with the engine fully warmed up. Problem solved

I know that. All I was pointing out was the genuine Peugeot/ Citroen belts for the TU5J4/ JP4 are made slightly differently. Mine now has a correctly tensioned Gates belt on it and it's noticeably whinier at high revs than the genuine belt that was on before.

He should have replaced the tensioner and water pump and belt.

Gate is the correct one - Citroen use
The tensioner is SKF - again, factory fit

If whining its too tight and will be irreversibly eating the waterpump bearing

sorry to bring up old threads, but, 2 weeks ago i had my cam belt and water pump done, including tensioner etc. and mine was making a whining noise, so took it back to hm last weekend, a different mechanic to who usualy looks at my car did the swap, the mechanic who runs the garage is really good, he worked for citroen for 10 years mainly on the saxo line so knows his stuff, and he said the guy that fitted it in the garage has just put it on too tight so he slackend it a little and said that he wouldnt want to slacken it any further or it will be slapping, he said if its still whining in another 2 weeks bring it back in and we will have a proper look and take the belt off and start again and investigate etc. its been another week now and its still whining, anyone got any other opinions n what it could be? or is it just the belt still being to tight?

I got mine sorted out now matey, turned out to be the cover catching that was causing the problem. I would chech this if you haven't already.

nah its defo not the cover as it still makes the noise with the cover off. i read abit about the cam shaft itself could be making the noise but not too sure? :/
