can anyone explain in detail why the ecu locked on my desire 1.1. the car has been sat un touched for a week i went to start it up and nothing what causes ecu to lock ?

#2Depends what you mean by 'nothing'
No response form anything, such as lights on dash, radio etc would point to a flat battery.
Do you have the orange key symbol flashing on the dash? If yes then the most common prob is the pick up ring around the ignition barrel faulty. Scrap yard should sort one for you. -

#4The ecu is unlocked each time you put the key ner the ignition barrel because it is sensed by the pick up ring. If the pick up fails it will not sense the original key (has atransponder inside) hence will not unlock. I would try again later, maybe give the barrel a light tap - might work - its Citroen after all! Needs replacing though, if it goes now then it's on its way out.1 user thanked this post:
