my gearbox has been noisy for a few weeks now. took it to garage and they said its got a noisy gear link bearing or something like that? and not to worry about, not worth changing the gearbox for it.

im off to cornwall thursday which is like 3 1/2 hour drive from mine, iv got no problems getting the car in gear, no crunching or anything. just a bit of a rattle in idle. cant hear it when im driving for obvious reasons lol.

it got me to FCS and back no trouble. just wondering if it would be ok to take to cornwall? wont just pack up and fall out will it lol

Should be fine, it sounds more like thrust bearing, see if it goes away when you push the clutch down

Until it seizes up or collapses.

How longs a piece of string. Took one off a metro once that was utterly solid. Its on of those cuntish jobs - get the whole box off to just slip the part on in 2 seconds.

my thrust bearing was making a noise for over a year and never give up on me, but like what has been said, how long is a peice of string.
