Angel Eyes With HID's

  1. #1
Was going to fit my HID's today but notice a warning label on my HID's saying 'warning no HID bulbs'.

I'm guessing this is due to the plastic lens that the angel eyes have? What will actually happen if I fit them? Will the lens actually melt?

If my HID's are UV protected is it safe to fit them? How can I tell if they are UV protected?

I have often wondered why as HID bulbs actually run cooler then Halogen bulbs. And in so would normally be less likely to melt lens. All EU road legal HIDs OSRAM, Philips, GE and Piaa all are UV filtered and so should also not be an issue unless you get some cheap bulbs from China. I always suspected it was more a legal issue as fitting HID bulbs to Angle Eyes would invalidate there E marking and render them not road legal. So they may be just covering them self on this front.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Just found out that my HID's are in fact UV protected so not sure whether to go ahead and fit them or not?

You're right actually it could be to do with legal issues and I guess that would make more sense. Although a mate of mine is using HID's with his angel eyes and they've caused a thin layer on the inside of the lens to start peeling. It's not that bad and doesnt affect the headlight in any way, but I dont really want it to happen to mine.
