ENgine makes regular metal noises

   Hi
   
   When i switch my car off the engine seems to make a metal knock noise repeatedly every 3-5 minutes.I have a fully modded citroen saxo 1.1 98 3dr model. Has ne1 else had this? Any suggestion on waht it could be?

   i wouldnt think it would be that as it comes from the front end of car

   i get this as well, i presume its the metal cooling down and contracting back

   The exhaust also starts at the front of the car...

   It's ur ehaust coolin mate, 90% sure obviously cant hear it but from wot ur sayin im pretty sure it is!

   yeah iv heard it on Mat Ms saxo aswell think its just a normal thing

   just it cooling down mate i think you would make a bit of noise if you got that hot lol

    Defo the car cooling down, but i wouldnt bother changing anything because of it. Its just heat expansion, it happens on most cars. A porsche pulled up the other day and when he go out and walked away, naturally i stood by the car wising it was mine and it sounded like there was WW3 uner the bonnet...sort of...

    have you checked if your rad fan is working? maybe its getting lots hotter when driven!

    there is nothing wrong its just the exhaust cooling down, put your hand on the manifold after 3 mins too see how hot it is if you dont believe it! (disclaimer: if you burn your hand which you will its tough tittys)

    how do i check if the radiator fan is working?

    leave it ticking over in the drive for a while and see if it comes on but if you think its not working turn it of else youll crack the block !!!

    you cant crack the block with having no fan, as the water shouldnt get that hot. And its never a good idea to just leave your car idling as its bad for the engine and plugs.

    you can crack the block by it geting to hot low cant you ? also ratty the turbo god lol how dos it screw the plugs and engine ?? be intrested to no
