thermometer light is on and battery light flickers

   my thermometer light comes on but the needle goes up and down then usually sits about half way with the light still on, when using high revs or going about 70 mph. also on the motorway yesterday the battery light started flickering at about the 70 mark. occasionally when i drop gear to gain speed and use high revs all the gauges needles just drop to the bottom then go back to where they are supposed to be after a second. any help!!?

   check the alternator output mate
