What would people suggest as the best suspension set up purely for track use on my 106? I dont care how it looks i just want it to be as fast as possible round a track but not sure what suspension to use... what are peoples thoughts?
Best Track Suspension

#2What is your budget?
And with the budget are you wanting the best suspension looking at the whole pie (including all the bits like polybushes, strut braces etc) or just simply the best spring/damper(or coilover)/torsion bar setup -
#3Havent really got a specific budget tbh. If i had to give one id say about 1k? (not stuck to that though as ive got about 8 months to get it finished.Quote:What is your budget?

Im after advice on everything, im clued up on getting the car to go fast in a straight line but pretty clueless when it comes to corners. It will hopefully be getting a splitter, flat floor and diffuser at some point but want to get the suspension set up right first. including getting the right torsion, anti roll bars, bushes etc. -
#4You will need to spend more than £1k to have a remote chance of getting a flat floor and diffuser to work. You are going to need to get the car low but also stiff to keep the chassis as flat as possible when cornering.
AST suspension at minimum -
#5Sorry dont mean that a flat floor and diffuser would be in the 1k budget, thats a side issue, and just an idea at the minute, plus like i said i dont really no much about suspension so the budget is irrelevent at the minute. Ill have a look into the ast stuff thanks. Im thinking raise the back up / bring the front down and stiffen up the rear end with bigger torsion bars / arb?

#6What bits have you currently got fitted out of interest?
And as KamRacing says the flat floor and diffuser is a pointless exercise on a Saxo. Wont make a blind bit of difference on a general trackday. -
#7Currently unknown lol thats why it needs changing. When i bought it the guy didnt know what springs or shocks he had fitted so im guessing some cheap springs and standard shocks, everything else suspension wise is standard hence why im moving my efforts away from the engine on to the suspesion lol

#8AST and then a larger torsion bar. Front spring rate and torsion bar size dependant on your tyre choice.
-
#9would be on fast road/track tyres but not sure on exactly what
-
#10then you are looking at 280lb springs minimum. I'd probably go with a 23-24mm torsion bar at the rear.
If you are going full out and fitting slicks then I would be fitting Sportline 2 AST at minimum or the stockhatch suspension as that will run thicker shafts and will be far stronger to help with the extra forces generated.1 user thanked this post: -
#11the ast stuff looks pretty good, probably gunna get that on order after a bit more research!
Ok thanks for your help
-
#12So where I'm at now is some decent coilies (probably AST)
Thicker torsion bars and ARB.
Also thinking some wider wheels might help me?only run 195s at the minute
Anything else? lol -
#13Yep Ast are very good, yer the kit on kamracing is the cheapest they do.
Like kam I would go for the sportline 2. I am running 200 lb springs with 22mm torsion have a great balance, that with Ast suspension also get a diff that will help cornering speed too. -
#14Also has Poly bushes. Low sturt brace, and Ast top mounts
It a very good balance, but it not a cheap setup. but very good
